Training requirements:

Duration of training:
3 years, shortened to 2 1/2 years if you have completed secondary school or have a high school diploma

Training content:

• Appearance as a host
• Serving food and drinks
• Organizing the service process
• Decorating tables
• Organizing events and festive dinners
• Designing offers
• Using the billing system
• Service, food and beverage knowledge

Vocational school:
In the first year of training approx. 16 weeks of block instruction
In the second or third 9 weeks of block instruction

Career prospects:
After successfully completing their training and gaining a few years of professional experience in the bar and restaurant departments, restaurant specialists can progress from commis de rang to department manager, restaurant director or commercial director.
